Art is liberation. My work is a visual union of fantasy and reality, about finding beauty within darkness, and a manifestation of my psychological vulnerability to the difficulties of life. It is the rise and fall and rise again of the human spirit that finds a path through entangled, confused thoughts and competing priorities to a lighter space that grows in spite of darkness and fear. Swirling colors, lines and shapes are metaphors for a circuitous ebb and flow of serenity and despair. Emotion, naiveté, and sensitivity are unleashed and free to linger, hidden by nature, protected and safe. It is the mind’s adventure, free to roam away from anxiety, depression, and society’s expectations.
